How often should I be washing my hair?

I’ve heard that you shouldn’t condition the roots of your hair. Is this true?
Yes. That said, while the hair closer to your scalp is newer and in less need of conditioning, a little bit of conditioner near the scalp can still help. The main idea is to avoid clogging your pores with conditioner.
